Fitted to the alternator, this internal regulator is compatible with units that have only two connecting wires, plus earth, and fits all Beetles and 1600cc T2s from 1974 onwards. The part is also used with alternator conversion kits. This important component regulates the charging voltage produced by your vehicle’s alternator – maintaining it between 13.5v and 14.5v in order to run efficiently and to protect the electrical system. Too much voltage and costly damage could result with parts burned out; too little, and performance is weakened.
