This Bosch quality condenser fits standard distributors on Beetle and T2 1970–1972. It has a round ‘bung’ shape with two flats that fit through a hole in the side of the distributor. Please check suitability before ordering. Its purpose in a coil ignition circuit is to reduce the spark at the contact points as they open – minimising burning and pitting of the points and so extending their lives. Bosch is a byword for quality and reliability in the automotive aftermarket. With over 2million parts a year supplied to garages and workshops throughout the UK, they offer replacement components to ex-works quality level for almost every vehicle type. Bosch parts offer the same, first class quality as those originally fitted to your vehicle by VW.

Out technical expert JK comments: There are a number of signs that your condenser is failing and these could include static on your car radio when the engine is running, but not when it's idle; trouble at start-up due to damaged contact points caused by excessive sparking; and a backfiring or misfiring engine.
