As a classic VW enthusiast, there’s nothing quite like the anticipation of Beach Dubbin and this year's event promised to be a spectacular showcase of everything Volkswagen and much more! Yet again it did not fail to deliver! Even the sun came out in force as my rosy neck and face will confirm!
This year, members of the Airsouls VW club joined up with Rae and Jason from Just Kampers meeting up on route at a local rendezvous point before heading off to Southsea Common and parking up on Air-cooled Avenue.
The Magic of Beach Dubbin
Whether you're a longtime VW fan or new to the scene, Beach Dubbin offers something for everyone. From the iconic VW Beetle to the nostalgic charm of the T2 Splitscreen, all the way through to water-cooled T6.1 Transporters, Caddys, Golfs and everything in between there's no shortage of eye-catching VWs to admire. Not only that, you’ll also be treated to American Yank Tanks, Scooters, and Custom cars. It’s a real eclectic mix that brings everyone together.
Plenty to do
Beach Dubbin also features a bustling swap meet and market area where attendees can browse and purchase a wide range of VW-related items. Whether you're looking for rare spare parts, vintage accessories, or even a new project vehicle, the swap meet is a treasure trove of finds. Many vendors specialise in hard-to-find items, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to complete their restoration project or find that elusive part. Additionally, market stalls offer everything from branded clothing and memorabilia to camping gear and lifestyle products, making it a shopper's paradise. There’s even a kids' play area. The event is super family-friendly, offering something for all ages.
Giving back to the community
Beach Dubbin isn't just about having a good time; it's also about giving back to the community. The event often features charity auctions and raffles, with proceeds going to the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, a total of just over £82,000 has been raised to date, an incredible sum of money! It's a great way for the VW community to make a positive impact.
Show n' Shine
One of the main highlights of Beach Dubbin is the "Show and Shine" competition. This event invites VW owners to display their meticulously restored or creatively customised VWs. From pristine classic Beetles to modern T6 campers, the range of VWs on display is truly impressive. Participants often spend countless hours preparing their cars for this event, ensuring they look their absolute best. The competition is judged on various criteria, including paint/body, interior, take-home value and style, each marked out of Ten.
This year Josh, Rae and Jason from the JK team along with help from Josh and Jason’s budding VW crazy sons, Dylan and Theo, and not forgetting Martin and his daughter from Airsouls helped Judge the exceptionally difficult Best Beetle and Best T2 Split Screen Categories. Not an easy task I may add too! After much time spent crawling over each car and bus, we eventually totted up the scores and two winners were selected.

To cap it off, Beach Dubbin is more than just a car show; it's a celebration of the VW lifestyle and community.
