Betsy is a lovely, holiday-ready, 1979 type 2 bay window VW pop-top campervan with a good condition, sought-after Holdsworth conversion (bed, cooker, sink, fridge, etc.) in good working order.
Sun-shade style awning.
All doors use the one original key, with spares.
A very usable, and enjoyable camper, she is well lived in and characterful, a little tired around the edges (eg. slightly sagging ceiling liner), but very usable and full of charm that makes for good fun camping and frequent use, or to invest in improvements that will increase the value of a very collectible camper.
Pretty good condition inside, outside and underneath, some bubbling and usual small rust spots on some edges and seams. A few rusty spots on roof and a fair bit on and near the roof gutters.
Very attractive and attracts lots of waves and smiles. A good, usable example of a classic with lots of potential to add value quickly and inexpensively to create a real collectable, or keep using as a great fun camper.
Engine is sound, regularly serviced since we bought her in 2016.
In the last 4 years we've been maintaining and gradually improving her as we go, including:
• new starter motor
• new clutch
• new brake cylinders
• 4 new tyres
• new battery tray
• rebuilt alternator
• new front panel (replaced window frame which had started to rust)
• new foot well/steps
• new passenger seat belt (was frayed)
Next things we planned to do are the rain gutters and a couple of window frames, just to keep on top of things.
House move and family situation means she's not getting the use she deserves so is ready for her next good home.
Regularly serviced and maintained by VW and classic car specialists.
Registered as an Historical vehicle last year so now Tax and Mot exempt.
Engine: 1.6 air cooled petrol engine on log (has been upgraded to 2 litre at some point)
MOT: Historical/vintage exempt (we have always ensured roadworthiness)
TAX: exempt (registered Historical Vehicle)
Mileage: 14100 on clock (no hundred-thousand digit on these, checked logs when we bought and it appears to be 114000) this will rise slightly as still used weekly.
