Fitted to the inside lip on the flywheel, this easily replaced seal could be the answer to your problem. It fits all Beetles, 1963–1998; all T2 Splits, 1963–1967; 1600cc T2 Bay, 1967–1979; and 1600cc T25, 1979–1982.
